Our Story
In 1992, Marie Keller and her colleagues were inspired to found the Los Angeles Gender Center in response to a need for culturally sensitive counseling for TGD individuals and communities. Through their commitment to providing the highest quality of care, they came together to offer services under the name of the Los Angeles Gender Center. As the need for affirming therapy grew, so did the members of LAGC. Marie and her colleagues began mentoring interns, and in 2007, recognizing the growing need for children and adolescent services, the Los Angeles Gender Center created the Child and Adolescent Program. This program aimed at servicing the unique needs of children and adolescents and their families by focusing on the entire family unit, and offering group support for parents. The Child and Adolescent Program grew rapidly and became well known for the expertise of the counselors and the sensitive care that was provided to our young clients.
